(01) What is Body Security
A small practice with an unreasonably large subject.
Body Security is an interdisciplinary intellectual studio investigating how human biology is shaped by the systems and environments we live within.
We examine systems rather than treating individuals as isolated problems. Incentives shape systems, systems shape environments, environments shape bodies, and the cost becomes an outcome society absorbs.
(02) The first lens
FoodWe begin with food.
Food is an unusually concrete meeting point between biology, agriculture, industry, technology, economics, regulation, norms and culture: where an engineered system meets biological life directly, meal by meal.
Food is the first field. It is not the limit of the investigation.

(03) What's at stake
Three scalesOur capacity to think, to engage, to be.
Our ability to be fully human, individually and together, depends on biological conditions currently being degraded by systems that have never been asked to account for the cost.
The consequences operate at three scales at once.
Individual
Health, behaviour, perception, attention, capacity and agency.
Corrupted biological signals, reduced agency, cognitive and emotional compromise, and the exhausting guilt loop that redirects attention from structural cause to personal failure.
Population
Disease patterns, inequality, vulnerability, resilience and the distribution of biological cost.
Epidemics of non-communicable disease, demographic consequences, healthcare costs externalised from food system accounting, microbiome diversity loss at population scale.
Societal / political
Healthcare and social costs, inequalities, collective capacity and the conditions for participation and agency.
Degraded biological conditions for deliberation, solidarity and democratic participation: the biological substrate of collective self-governance compromised and unexamined.
The cost is never cancelled. It is only moved:
from the accounts of a system
into the tissue of a person
into the capacity of a society.
